The most beautiful cities in Austria
Welcome to one of Europe’s most beautiful countries. Austria’s landscapes, regions and townscapes provide almost the full range of European variety in the centre of the continent. Austria is often associated, rightly, with winter sports, but there is so much more on offer. Its alpine areas are rugged and picturesque, but that’s far from being the whole story.
Customs rules
Customs checks are not normal at EU internal borders but may be carried out on a spot basis at airports or some borders. Travellers arriving in Austria from outside the EU are expected to declare goods that are not for personal use and cash of more than €10,000. Background information is available at the Austrian finance ministry Customs page.
Duty-free imports: Goods up to €300 (by land) or €430 (by air) can be imported by adults, or up to €150 by travellers up to age 15. Limits of 200 cigarettes, 100 cigarillos, 50 cigars or 250 grams of tobacco can be imported from outside the EU. For alcohol the limit is one litre of beverage more than 22% alcohol by volume, two litres of alcohol at lower concentration, 4 litres of non-sparkling wine and 16 litres of beer.
